Good Morning on this 2012 Leap Year Day.
Today I received a note from one of our recent customers; here is what she had to say:
Troy--I know that you know what great people you have working for you since most of them have been with you for years. But I wanted to let you know how good they are from the customer's perspective.
Francisco has done jobs for me before so I am well acquainted with what excellent work he does. He and his assistant were here for a couple of days, and they are tops as what they do as well as very professional and considerate. My new windows are perfect!
This is the first time your drywall/painting crew has been at my house, and I want to commend them as well. It's never fun to have your house in disarray. But they were very careful to make sure that I could get to things I needed when they moved all the porch furniture into the dining room and office. They all worked very, very hard throughout the day, and the end result is also perfect. The young man who came back to fix the problem with the seams in the drywall is very professional and pleasant. I can't remember for sure, but I think his name is Jose. All in all, it's a terrific crew!
At any rate, your employees reflect very favorably on your company. Thank you so much for all that you've done for me!--Lynn

Spring Outdoor Maintence
Check for possible damage to the roof. Look for missing, cracked or broken shingles and make note of any needed repairs. For safety reasons, you may want to consider hiring a qualified professional to take care of any repair work that needs to be done. D&M Enterprises offers professional, efficient roof installation services at a competitive price. Clean gutters and downspouts and make sure they are directing water away from the house.
Cut back tree limbs and shrubs growing within five feet of the house or that are brushing up against the roof. You will create better ventilation, help dry out surfaces and prevent possible damage.
Check for and repair cracks in driveway/sidewalk. Spring is the best time to seal cracks in the driveway or any other concrete.
Pressure wash your deck/patio and bring outdoor furniture out of storage. Make sure to wipe down each piece thoroughly prior to placing on a freshly-power washed surface.
Check garden hoses for dry rot and inspect hose faucets for possible freeze damage that may have occurred during the winter months.
Clean/condition your outdoor grill by first rinsing all outside surfaces with water. If grease has loosened on the grill grates and inside of the grill, wipe off using grill cleaner and paper towels. Follow by washing with a mild detergent and water. Rinse well and wipe dry.
By taking the time to prepare your home for spring, you’ll be able to focus more on enjoying outdoor activities, longer days and mild weather and less on household fixes and repairs.
Happy Spring!

Home improvement made easy
Home renovations start with a dream, but if you're not careful, they can become a nightmare. While it's impossible to anticipate every one of the inevitable setbacks you'll encounter during your home remodeling project, planning ahead is the key to reducing problems and staying within your budget.
How to Plan a Home Improvement Project
Even if you're planning a drastic home improvement initiative such as a kitchen remodeling, replacing the siding , doors, windows etc, and you're going to hire an architect to help you, it's vital that you visualize your ideas. Sketch out your idea to the best of your ability. This exercise helps you clearly see what you are and are not trying to accomplish with your project.
Talk to other homeowners about their experiences with home renovations and try to learn from mistakes they may have made. Use their insights to plan your project in as much detail as possible, and conduct thorough research to ensure you're being realistic about your budget. Home remodeling costs can quickly spiral out of control if you don't plan carefully.
If you're planning on making dramatic structural changes while remodeling your home, check to see if you'll need a permit. It is the responsibility of the homeowner to ensure that municipal building codes are met. Fines can result if you fail to comply.
Things to Consider When Hiring Home Remodeling Contractors
While general contractors can be expensive, they also help you control your home remodeling costs. If you have a big job, or if you're unsure you have the expertise to do the task yourself, you should hire a professional.
Ensure that any home improvement contractor you're considering is licensed, and ask for referrals to past clients. View examples of the contractor's work and check to see if there are any outstanding complaints against the contractor pending at your local Better Business Bureau. While experience can go a long way, hiring a well established contractor can save you some money, too.
Home renovations can add a great deal to the value of your house, such as replacing the roof, skylights and gutters & downspout, but they can also add up to big headaches. Take the time to prepare properly and you'll be ahead of the game.
